Manager Legal and Property Services

MidCoast Council seeks to appoint an experienced Solicitor to lead its Legal and Property Services Department and perform the role of Legal Counsel for Council. The position is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management to the department and ensure the achievement of outcomes which are in line with organisational strategies, objectives, vision and values. The Legal and Property Services team is responsible for: Legal Services; Property Management: Lease and Licences; Property Acquisitions; Commercial Development.

This is a senior role which will provide independent legal and strategic advice to the Executive team and Council and identify and mitigate legal, regulatory and reputational risk for Council by providing quality legal advice and counsel. The role plays a key part in the ongoing success of Council and supporting its strategic and operational direction.

To be successful in this role you must have admission to the Supreme Court of NSW to practise as a solicitor with an unrestricted practising certificate, extensive local government experience in providing legal advice and a demonstrated record of achievement in property management and financial management of legal

services. A ‘can do’ approach and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders on sensitive and complex matters is a must.
