The Shire of Ashburton serves communities across a vast region in the Pilbara, Western Australia. The region is known for mining, agriculture and fishing, and for its rugged, ancient landscape. Tom Price is WA’s highest town, located right on the edge of the state’s second largest national park, Karijini.


ABOUT THE POSITION

The Shire is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic. This position is responsible for ensuring all Shire of Ashburton vehicles, plant and machinery are kept in a serviceable and roadworthy condition and the workshop is safe, secure, and clean. The Shire owns a range of assets, including a motor vehicle fleet, waste trucks, earthmoving equipment and fixed plant which require regular, scheduled maintenance as well as breakdown repairs as required.

Our ideal candidate will be trade certified and have experience in a similar role, with welding & fabrication included. Some overnight travel between Shire towns will be required from time to time. Previous experience with auto electrical, waste trucks and working/driving in remote areas will be highly regarded.

This position offers a competitive remuneration package and six weeks’ annual leave. All terms and conditions are as per the Shire of Ashburton Enterprise Agreement 2017.
