The role of Unit Manager Strategic Planning Reports directly to the Director Environment and Planning. This role is responsible for leading and managing the Unit to ensure multi-faceted strategic land use policies, strategies, and projects are implemented to enhance sustainable development and optimise commercial outcomes.


The Unit Manager Strategic Planning provides day-to-day leadership to a team of professionals responsible for the delivery of continued growth on the Central Coast. This will be achieved through the development, implementation, review and assessment of land use planning strategies, policies, control plans and environmental plans to meet the current and future needs of the organisation and the community.


Our ideal candidate will be someone who can provide professional advice and guidance, inspire direction and provide overall leadership to develop, implement and drive the Unit’s business plan, ensuring effective linkage with the overall strategic plan and four-year delivery plan.


Key activities of this role include:

  • Collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to lead the development of policy related to strategic land use, natural resource management, asset and infrastructure planning and incentives for town centre revitalisation;
  • Identification of the current and future development potential of key sites throughout the Central Coast to ensure continued growth and to attract investment and create local employment;
  • Regularly develop, promote, monitor and review initiatives, programs and business processes that achieve continuous improvement, are aligned to the organisational objectives and add value to the community.

This position provides a remuneration package of between $175k to $210k per annum dependent on skills and experience.  A vehicle is provided for official duties and private use leaseback is available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy.
