Groundsperson - Open Spaces Maintenance

Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking applications for a Groundsperson with the Open Spaces Maintenance Team. The team is responsible for the maintenance of our parks, reserves and open spaces, and takes pride in maintaining and improving the presentation of these areas so that they can be enjoyed and safely used by our community.
The regular work includes mowing, slashing, spraying, and general maintenance works such as installing and repairing bollards, cutting back vegetation and tree/shrub limbs and clearing fallen branches to allow access. The maintained spaces include formal parks, oval surrounds and creek reserves in Wangaratta and rural areas. Slashing is also undertaken on roadsides to reduce fire risk and ensure clear visibility at intersections.
Mowers used include a front-mounted mower and a winged 16 ft mower. Spraying is undertaken from a tractor-mounted and ute-mounted spray units, plus hand lances, in addition to some knapsack work. Experience in operating tractors with attachments such as mowers, slashers and sprayers is required. A cheerful positive attitude, sense of responsibility, and interest in doing good quality work is very desirable for this position.
