The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.  The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville.  The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.


An exciting opportunity exists within our Community and Environmental Services  team for a Library Assistant.  Reporting to the Team Leader Library we are looking for an experienced individual to contribute to effective library service operations through assisting in the provision of customer focused services and programs, including maintenance of collections and service areas.


As the Library Assistant you will be responsible for

  • Assisting with all activities within the library service including customer enquiries, borrower registration, circulation, collection development and maintenance, and home library services
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for children's activities and adult programs
  • Assisting in the development and facilitation of programs and displays for children and adults
  • Maintaining the presentation of library collections & service areas


With the necessary experience and qualifications you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high attention to detail and accuracy.  You will be an excellent team contributor and motivated to complete tasks on time.


Essential

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • Tertiary Qualifications or relevant accreditation in Library/and or Information studies OR the willingness to progress towards
