Leading Hand, Plant Operator (Grade 4) for Road Operations is responsible for leading a team of dedicated staff within our Roads Operations Unit carrying out the timely, safe and efficient operations of heavy plant, in line with rubbish removal and excavations works to the local LGA.
Tasks include but not limited to:
- Supervise team and delegate duties in line with Safe Work Operations
- Operate the relevant plant and equipment where required
- Complete WH&S site specific risk documentation and reporting daily
- Provide operational support to Team Members, Team Leader, Works Coordinator and Manager.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures for plant and related equipment at all times.
- Use of technology and software to complete documentation and reporting as required.
- Drive crew and equipment to various job site when required
- Ensure all direct reports complete plant inspections, greasing and servicing and looking after plant maintenance including small repairs, reporting the need for mechanical work or other repairs
- Ensure all relevant daily work / documentation is completed on time. Including time sheets and risk assessments.
- Performing day to day operational requirements as directed by Team Leader
Essential Criteria:
- Current Class C & MR Driver’s Licence
- Blue Card Traffic Control
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in leading a team of plant operators
- Computer skills, Microsoft office (Word, Excel), Outlook email system
- Previous experience in an allocation style role / leadership role
- Previous demonstrated experience in the operation of plant and equipment
- Ability to read, understand and interpret Engineering plans for civil assets
