The Role:

As the Manager of Corporate Services and Risk, reporting to the Director Support Services, you will lead a team of professional staff to achieve the following objectives:

  • Ensure the successful delivery of corporate governance, including enterprise risk management, legal services, corporate policy development, corporate registers, records management, access to information and GIPA, printing services, insurance policies and claims, and Committee and Councillor support
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership and guidance to Councillors, the General Manager, Directors and Managers on best practice risk management and governance frameworks to ensure Council complies with legislative requirements.


You must have:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Local Government, Law, Risk, Management or other related area and/or relevant industry experience
  • Experience in or a demonstrated capacity to: 
  • develop and implement corporate wide Enterprise Risk Management framework
  • develop, implement and review risk management strategies to control risks to Council’s assets including human, fiscal, property and environmental provide well researched, accurate and timely advice to Council on all relevant legislation and standards pertaining to Risk Management
  • Experience in or a demonstrated capacity to acquire a working knowledge of the coordination of Council Meetings including the coordination of Business Papers and support to Councillors
  • Experience in or a demonstrated capacity to maintain corporate registers in relation to a variety of information including policies, delegations, risk and legal matters
  • Knowledge of or a demonstrated capacity to acquire a working knowledge of relevant legislative provisions including the Local Government Act 1993, State Records Act 1998, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998
  • Experience in leading a team to provide outstanding levels of customer service to Council employees, Councillors, general public and other stakeholders
