Senior Governance Advisor

Permanent Full-time

We are looking for a governance superstar to oversee the effective and efficient administration of Council's meeting schedule and procedures.

The role will provide advice to elected members, the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and Council staff on meeting processes, and ensure all associated documents comply with the appropriate statutory provisions.

You will be an experienced Governance Advisor with an expert knowledge of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and other key local government legislation. You will also know your way around Standing Orders and be comfortable in interpreting them and advising others during Council and Committee meetings.

You'll have excellent administrative skills, be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and familiar with the records management requirements of local government. Oversight of the preparation of key documents, including agendas and minutes will be second nature because of your meticulous attention to detail and determination to get things right first time. You will be a pro at multi-tasking, thrive under pressure and be comfortable providing written reports to Council, Committees and the Bluff Community Board, as required.

Tight timeframes come with the territory and you'll need to be the soul of discretion, often dealing with sensitive information. In short you get things done and you make it all look so easy!

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced governance advisor, and in return we offer you a varied role and meaningful opportunities to build a career here at the Invercargill City Council.

For more information please see the full job description online or contact the Invercargill City Council on 03 211 1777.
