Hume City Council is seeking an experienced waste professional to fill this newly created position within our Landfill Unit. You will play an important role in the ongoing improvement of the operations of our landfill and resource recovery facilities at Sunbury and Campbellfield.
Reporting to the Coordinator Landfill, your strong staff and contractor supervision and organisational skills will be essential to effectively and sensitively facilitate and develop a performance-based culture. Your ability to manage change in a constructive manner, experience in leading teams across multiple sites, and a strong understanding of the challenges of the Waste sector, particularly from an operational perspective, are key requirements of this position.
If you are an experienced team leader with strong people and organisational skills, have a continuous improvement focus, this will be an excellent opportunity to bring your skills and experience to a new role.
Key Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to supervise, lead, mentor, train and develop staff, casual labour employees and subcontractors.
- Demonstrated understanding of current best practice environmental and waste management principles and practices and experience in developing procedures and processes to implement these.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to prepare reports and relevant correspondence.
