The City of Canterbury Bankstown is looking for someone who will lead the Public Domain team and combine the restoration function of road openings associated with development and non-development related works to manage Council’s restoration function.
Reporting to the Manager Roads Infrastructure Planning, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading the day-to-day operations of staff who supervise the works carried out within road reserve by developers and utility authorities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Administer work permit, road opening permit and crane/concrete pump permit applications
- Administer utility authority restoration applications including Land Activity Notices and inspections
- Assessment and approval of temporary shoring/ground anchor applications
- Provide street boundary alignment levels for new developments
- Vehicular footway crossing design preparation (DA related and non-DA related)
- Inspect and approve all civil works within Council’s property carried out by third parties
- Review & manage the inspection process including plans, technical specifications and relevant standards
- Liaise with applicants, builders, developers, private certifiers, ratepayers, Public Utility Authorities, Government agencies and others as required
- Process outstanding infringements and follow up activities within legislated timeframes
- Initiate, manage and action court proceedings and/or litigation processes within a timely manner
- Coordinate with and provide relevant information for Council's Risk Management team for legal claims
- Other related tasks as required by Manager Roads Infrastructure
To be successful in this position you will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
- Class C Drivers License
- WH&S Construction White Card
- Demonstrated extensive experience in local government engineering including civil engineering design, construction, maintenance and aspects of land development in relation to roads, drainage and traffic.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the preparation of construction quantities and estimates
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of the prevention of erosion and sediment control for and traffic management around construction sites
- Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating and coordinating a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality standards
- Demonstrated leadership experience
