North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 70,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Environmental Health Officer to join our Environment and Building Compliance Team. As a part of our team, you will be exposed to a diverse range of day-to-day activities including action requests, the inspection of premises, investigation of public health and environmental issues and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or related field (or soon to be completed)
- Class C Driver’s Licence
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Customer service focus
- Knowledge of Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003 and associated Regulation and Food Standards, Public Health Act 2010, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, and other relevant legislation, codes, guidelines and standards
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Computer skills

- Local government knowledge or experience
