Council is seeking applications to fill the full time position of Horticulture & Town Services Officer in Longreach. Applications will be received until Friday, 29 July 2019. Late applications may not be considered.


The Position

Council is seeking the services of a person to fill the position of Horticulture & Town Services Officer in Longreach. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the daily operations and maintenance requirements of all streetscapes and greenspaces are undertaken to the highest standard, including, but not limited to, main business area, public open spaces, tourist recreation areas, reserves, civic spaces, sporting fields, pedestrian and cycle ways, parks, playgrounds, botanical walkways and cemeteries.


Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant is expected to have demonstrated experience in horticulture maintenance duties and hold a current MR class driver’s licence and construction white card. Applicants are expected to have, be working towards, or have the ability to obtain competencies in chainsaw operation, chemical handling, traffic management and traffic control. The successful incumbent must have or be willing to obtain their Certificate III in Horticulture.


Salary and Conditions

The position is classified as a Level 3 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 and offers an annual salary (including allowances and leave loading) of $56,630.28This position will receive 5 weeks annual leave including leave loading of 17.5%, 15 days sick leave, 9 day fortnight, Rostered-Day-Off system, salary sacrifice options, ongoing training and professional development and superannuation of up to 12% of salary is also available upon commencement.
