About the role:
 

A fantastic opportunity to Coordinate Gap Treatment/ Fire Control Officer work for the Bushfire Mitigation Program, ensuring satisfaction of the operational objectives of stakeholders, through being on time, to budget, and within technical and OSH, Environmental and Quality standards. We are seeking someone with Mid-West / North-West region Hazard Reduction Burns experience and another with South-West/great Southern and Goldfields region Hazard Reduction Burns experience.

 
What the role will offer:
  • Support the completion of Detailed Desktop Environmental Assessments using ArcGis and BRMS Spatial systems,
  • Undertake Detailed Field Site Assessments using defined processes including data collection, analysis and entry into business mapping systems,
  • Design Gap Treatment Works proposals for review and approval,
  • Detail requirements, negotiate and arrange quotes for Gap Treatment Works,
  • Liaison with stakeholders as required in planning and implementation of Gap Treatment Works,
  • Coordinate and Supervise Site Gap Treatment activities and coordinate the work of consultants engaged on projects,
  • Supervise Prescribed Burning activities in accordance with Burn Prescriptions and Permits,
  • Provide detailed reports on progress against scheduled works.
Key skills and experience:
  • DFES BRMS,  BAL Assessor Level 1 or Fire Control Officer (FCO), VBFB Captain, BRMO, CESM experience (essential)
  • Extensive Experience in Gap Treatment activities including Vegetation Assessments, Hazard Reduction Burns, Weed Spray and Mechanical Clearing principals (desirable)
  • Well-developed skills in developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. (essential)
  • Good knowledge of Bushfire Legislation and Environmental Factors (desirable)
  • Good Computer Literacy (essential)
  • C Class Drivers’ License (essential)
