About the role:
 
We are currently searching for a Manager Employment Relations, to successfully manage the Water Corporations employment relations strategy, framework and systems to support business performance and development objectives. This role will see you strategically manage enterprise agreements, external relationships, case management and remuneration, whilst integrating into the wider employment proposition, policy and compliance framework and HR program. You will provide remedies that mitigate risk to the Corporation in relation to employment and industrial relations issues, providing a balanced view and risk assessment across employment law. 
 
What the role will offer:
  • Lead a motivated and capable team of 8 professionals, based in Leederville and reporting to the Head of People and Capability;
  • Developing and implementing the employment relations strategy to enable the Corporation to achieve its business objectives and drive future improvement;
  • Providing strategic and operational HR/ER support, advice and leadership;
  • Overall governance of disciplinary advice provided by Human Resources, ensuring acceptable employment and industrial risk to the organisation;
  • Managing the governance of the Enterprise Agreement;
  • Developing a bargaining framework for the Enterprise Agreement, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with business objectives;
  • Liaise with and influence Unions and employee representative during bargaining process to maintain positive working relationships;
  • Positively contribute to workplace culture and behaviour, including the way we respond to issues of misconduct and unsatisfactory performance;
  • Overall responsibility for union consultation and engagement with all Unions representing employees;
  • Managing the conduct of employment- and industrial-related litigation in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Magistrates Court, Federal Court, WA Industrial Relations Commission and the Australian Human Rights Commission; responsible for instructing external panel lawyers in relation to same.
 
Key skills and experience:
  • Degree qualified in a Bachelor of Laws or related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in providing employment relations advice in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation that has a combined workforce of blue and white collar employees.
  • Substantial experience in interpreting and applying enterprise bargaining agreements, awards and legislation and providing advice to others in the application of these instruments.
  • Experience in workplace investigations and resolving claims and disputes in the workplace.
  • Significant experience in dealing with Unions, fair work and related issues
  • Have the ability to relate effectively to a wide range of people, including senior management.
  • Significant experience in managing people and teams
