About the Opportunity

The Team Leader Development Programs is responsible for the development, implementation and reporting on strategies and Actions from Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan, this includes, Fire Safety, Combustible Cladding, Swimming Pools, Awning safety and Educational programs. The Team Leader Development Programs is supported by the Fire Safety Officer and Development Programs Officer, to ensure: 

  • That Cumberland Council is at the forefront of Development Operations practice.
  • The Development Programs team facilitates outcomes that maximise value for all stakeholders, at the same time protects the health, environment and amenity of the community.


To be considered for this position the successful candidate should have extensive experience as a Building Surveyor and have appropriate accreditation A1, A2 or A3 under the NSW Building Professionals Board Accreditation Scheme.

Conditions of Employment: This is a permanent full-time position based on 35 hours per week, with flexible working hours available. This position will be located at the Auburn Office, however there is the  possibility that you may be working across Auburn and or Merrylands worksites.


Salary: Employment is under the NSW Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 13 of Cumberland salary structure with a salary range of $1,786.17 to $2,054.09 per week, plus superannuation. Commencement salary will depend upon qualifications, experience and competencies. A Motor Vehicle Lease-back arrangement or Motor Vehicle Allowance will also be offered in accordance with Council’s Motor Vehicle policy.
