Our Contract Operations Team contribute to the effective management of state-wide water and wastewater networks, treatment plants and other assets to help deliver world class water services to our customers. The team oversee the governance of major outsourced arrangements, facilitating delivery of value-for-money services through commercial partnerships whilst balancing risks against opportunities and optimise contract administration to drive consistency and best practice commercial governance across all contracts.

About your new opportunity

This diverse and engaging role will see you establish and build rapport with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. From managing and negotiating contract variations for water and wastewater contracts to reporting on water quality incidents and providing capital enhancements, you will resolve challenges efficiently and effectively. You will be available to work on-call roster (2 weeks on 2 weeks off) and will be competent at managing critical deadlines.

  • Oversee contract partners to ensure they meet service delivery requirements
  • Conduct continuous development reviews of the Contract Management Frameworks
  • Ensure contracts achieve successful audit results (i.e. clean audit reports)
  • Maintain agreed operating budget for contracts under management
  • Manage monthly operations meetings and ensure administration requirements are met
  • Negotiate contract variations and ensure invoice verification processes are completed
  • Manage contract budgets, confirming they are accounted for in financial plans and forward estimates
  • Review and update all risk assessments and management plans

What you need to be successful:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, commerce, science or relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Extensive knowledge of contractual requirements for the successful management of major and minor contracts
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, evaluate and problem solve using sound analytical skills
  • Competent in communicating and influencing across the business to negotiate and drive outcomes 
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed understanding of water quality issues and water treatment processes
  • Available for on-call roster
  • Strong attention to detail
