A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced finance professional to join a highly motivated and driven team, and play a hands on role in the transformation of the Finance function at Yarra City Council.

As a key member of the finance team, the Financial Services Accountant will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high quality, efficient and accurate Financial Accounting and Statutory Reporting.
With a key focus on the preparation of high quality monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reporting, strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast paced and challenging environment will be crucial to your success in this role.
You will also have the opportunity to play a valuable role in shaping the strategic direction of Council’s finance function, and make a valuable contribution to redefining our value-add and customer focused approach to service delivery.
In order to be successful in this role you will need:
- Strong financial accounting and statutory reporting experience, with a good understanding of the application of Australian Accounting Standards;
- Strong experience in the timely and accurate preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
- Strong understanding of internal controls and ability to provide support in the development of key processes and procedures governing the finance function;
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax legislation particularly Goods and Service Tax (GST) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT);
- Experience providing high levels of customer service to internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, organisation, time management and negotiation skills.
