In the role of Director (Personalised Transport Policy) you will lead the development and maintenance of passenger transport strategies and policies contributing to an accessible, efficient, safe and sustainable system. You will also provide high level policy advice to the Minister, the Director-General and/or other senior executives on specific issues relevant to personalised transport policy. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and will be required to provide strategic direction and leadership in establishing and maintaining relationships with the taxi, limousine and ride-booking industries across Queensland to ensure quality service provision, outstanding customer experience and safety.

The successful candidate will be required to negotiate sensitive issues to the satisfactory resolution of the Deputy Director-General (TransLink Division) and the General Manager (PT Integration) through demonstrating well-honed leadership and management skills.

Accountabilities include:

• Provide high level leadership and direction to the Personalised Transport Policy team, developing policy, establishing operational plans, managing resources (people, financial and physical) and achieving established goals and objectives.

• Communicate vision and purpose, engaging and motivating staff in the achievement of organisational objectives through innovation and continuous improvement.

• Provide authoritative advice on complex policy, legislation and strategies related to the taxi and limousine industries.

• Represent the Department at a range of forums including stakeholder working groups, industry forums, national regulator groups and committees addressing issues affecting the personalised transport industry in Queensland.

• Identify strategic risks and opportunities for improvement in the delivery of personalised transport services across Queensland, policy frameworks, legislative approaches and strategies as required to shape change.

• Direct the preparation of submissions, briefs, briefing notes on Cabinet submissions, ministerial correspondence and policy papers. Manage issues about the implementation of the state's passenger transport strategies including the provision of advice and reports to the General Manager, Deputy Director-General, Director-General and the Minister for Transport and Main Roads.

• Build a positive culture of achievement, collaboration and professionalism with the directorate and utilise contemporary management practices to develop a diverse team of professionals to deliver quality outcomes whilst supporting employment equity, workplace health and safety, ethical decision-making and personal performance.

This position reports to the Executive Director (Service Policy) and has 2 direct reports and 10 indirect reports.
