As part of the Economic Development & Tourism Directorate the Arts and Culture Unit is responsible for delivering a spectrum of community cultural development services, programs and projects. The Unit works to the Arts and Cultural Plan 2018-2022 and Council Plan to enable opportunities to foster active lifestyles and artistic expression through participation and innovation.
Our most recent Coordinator has done an amazing job of setting the scene, building policy and strategy that continuously punches above its weight in terms of best practice. So - we're now looking for someone who can come in and take this excellent work to the next level.
To be successful in this role you will have pizazz, flare, a cracking sense of humour and a willingness to work in an organisation full of people willing to assist you to get the job done.
On a more practical note you will also need:
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Arts Management, Cultural Planning or a related discipline.
- Extensive and varied experience in arts management, cultural planning and community cultural development.
- Thorough knowledge of contemporary arts practice and collection management.
- Demonstrated experience in policy writing in the area of arts and cultural development.
- The ability to lead, develop and manage staff in order to have a committed team empowered to deliver quality services and to achieve individual, unit and corporate objectives.
- Ability to develop and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Well-developed project management skills.
- Budget development and management.
- Demonstrated team player.
- Customer focused with proven initiative in continuous improvement and innovation.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
This is a permanent full-time Band 7 position.
