We live in a country surrounded by water, the majority of our population live in close proximity to it and for many it's our playground whether we're swimming, boating, fishing or involved in some other water sports. Swimming is a vital life skill and one that someday may mean the difference between life and death.


The Invercargill City Council are looking for a vibrant, passionate and dedicated permanent part-time Swim Teacher to join our team at Splash Palace.


In this role you will be responsible for providing all of our swim school customers with effective, high quality learn to swim instruction and contributing towards this important life skill. A commitment to exceptional customer service and the ability to communicate well with people of various age ranges is vital as our Learn to Swim customers consist of infants and children but also adults too.


Successful applicants will hold or be willing to obtain their New Zealand Assistant Swim Teacher Award and First Aid Certificate. Previous experience in learn to swim teaching or working with children in a coaching role is desirable but not essential. Full training in our Learn to Swim programme will be provided.


The Invercargill City Council is committed to the wellbeing and protection of children, the elderly and vulnerable adults. As a component of this role involves interaction with one or more of the above groups, as part of the assessment of candidates, we will require Police Vetting as per the Vulnerable Children's Act 2014 and a Pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Screening test to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our customers and members of the public.
