About the role:

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Water Industry Technician. Based in Broome, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating, repairing and maintaining advanced water/wastewater plants to optimise process and delivery outputs through monitoring, analysis and corrective action. The role also includes overseeing the operation of the Broome North WWTP Re-Use scheme; The Broome North WWTP Re-Use scheme has 2 x 34 hectare center pivot irrigators, these irrigate Rhodes grass that is harvested to produce cattle fodder for local station owners.   

 

What the role will involve:

  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled (breakdown) maintenance in a conventional treatment plant (Multi Media Filter, Sand filter, Clarifier systems etc)                  

  • Using your full range of trade skills to maintain a conventional treatment plant

  • Supervising and developing others

  • Supervising Operators and Trainees at the Broome North WWTP

  • Operation and maintenance of farming equipment

  • Utilise Agriculture experts to improve operation of the Rhodes grass crop within environmental guidelines                

  • Identifying faults and coordinate repairs (or within trade scope undertakes these)

     

 

 

Key skills and experience:

    • Mechanical Trade Certificate

    • Certificate III National Water Package

    •  W.A ‘C’ Class driver’s license

    •  Relevant High Risk Licences

    • Trained and competent in Confined Space Entry

    • Trained and competent in the use of SCBA and atmospheric monitoring equipment
