About the Opportunity

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Environmental Health Officer provides services related to Environmental Health including public health, food safety and environmental issues and related technical advice to managers and other staff of council. This role is also responsible for undertaking specific environmental health projects as and when required.


This role will assist the Team Leader Environmental Health and other members of the Council ensure that organisation meets all of its Legislative, Management Plan and Budgetary requirements. The Environmental Health Officer is also responsible for maintaining Cumberland Council (the organisation and the community) at the forefront of Environmental Health.


Council fully supports the aims and objectives of NSW Child Protection Legislation, and associated provisions, and will implement all necessary measures to ensure a safe and supporting Council environment, which endeavours to promote child safe child friendly practices. It is essential for applicants to submit their WWCC number with their application. It is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.

Salary: Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award.  This position is placed in Grade 10 (over Award rate) of Cumberland salary structure. Commencement salary will depend upon experience and competencies.


Conditions of Employment: Permanent, full time positions with flexible work arrangement to be negotiated and Leaseback vehicle. This position will be based at Merrylands, however the successful applicant will be working across Merrylands and/or Auburn worksites.
