MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC) is currently seeking an experienced Records Officer to lead the organisation in the application of good records management protocols as Systems Administrator.


As the Records Officer, you will drive the project of implementing and maintaining the Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRM) and ensuring MRC's compliance to Record Management Legislation


Major Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the day to day and long term Records processes in accordance with policies, procedures and records management and local government standards and legislation
  • Undertake mail processing, document and file management tasks in an electronic environment, involving scanning, classifying, titling, data entry and digitisation (Council uses the MAGIQ Electronic Document Management System)
  • Undertake training, mentoring and monitoring of departmental records champions
  • Conduct regular records management audits to ensure compliance with the legislation and Council policies and procedures
  • Identify records that are subject to the disposal authority and safely transferring or securely disposing of these records
  • Keep information in the EDRM system current and accurate
  • Process and facilitate staff requests for files and documents, including retrieval and return of hardcopy files and packets to various storage locations
  • Assist staff with advice regarding Records processes, EDRMS usage and their responsibilities for records management
  • Assist the supervisor to monitor and report to the CEO and Directors on the operation of the records management program
  • Archive paper based records, liaising with Council's storage agent


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Recordkeeping or equivalent experience, or other tertiary qualifications in Records Management or Business Administration
  • Previous experience in records management
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in an administration role
  • Previous experience using an electronic records management system
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment
