This position is responsible for the management of Council's fleet and depot operations.
The Central Desert Regional Council has over 300 items of fleet and plant listed which form a significant part of Council’s asset management program. The Fleet & Depot Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing all components of Council’s Fleet Asset Management Plan and supporting the services and communities of the Council.
In addition the Fleet & Depot Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient and secure operation of Council’s Depot which serves as the central hub for the delivery and dispatch of fleet, plant, equipment and goods for Council services and communities.
The Fleet & Depot Coordinator will be required to develop and deliver a sustainable Fleet Asset Management Plan.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An awareness of issues affecting Aboriginal people in remote locations and ability to effectively operate in a cross-cultural environment.
- Experience in the management, maintenance, purchase and sales of vehicles, plant and equipment.
- Experience using Asset Management Systems
- Experience in the management and storage of stock within a depot/warehouse environment.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to communicate effectively by email and use the suite of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and Access).
- Sound knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Work Health and Safety and promotion of these in the workplace.
- Experience managing subordinate staff
- Experience usig web based Fleet data management systems
- Current Heavy Ridid (HC) class drivers licience
- Current Worksafe Forklift Truck (LF) class licience
- Experience in the use and operation of heavy combination vehicles and plant
- Knowledge of and experience with basic mechanical repairs and servicing
- Advance Excel program experience
- Experinece in the managemnt of a Depot
