Are you a passionate and driven individual with a genuine interest in waste, the environment and sustainability?
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work with schools, business and the community to drive awareness and positive behavioural change around local environmental priorities.
This position plays an important role in planning, preparing and implementing waste education projects and programs to support Council’s Waste Management Strategy, waste and recycling services, waste reduction targets, resource recovery initiatives, and litter reduction. You will be actively involved with staff and the community in developing and delivering corporate and community programs and campaigns to minimise waste and maximise resource recovery. A key responsibility will be to assist development and implementation of a waste education plan and to manage a range of recycling, resource recovery, litter and waste minimisation projects.
To be considered for this role you will have as a minimum, tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Education or related discipline together with some years of relevant waste industry experience. You will need well-developed written and oral communication skills and be able to successfully deliver presentations and projects. Experience and skills in project management and environmental education is desirable. Strong understanding of key environmental sustainability issues, such as waste avoidance and minimisation, resource recovery, recycling, and waste processing will be an advantage.
