It's definitely one big backyard you'll be assisting to maintain, but residents and visitors alike will appreciate your hard work!


Our Parks Operations team keep our city beautiful and undertake all aspects of ornamental, horticultural, general gardening and maintenance work. It's a BIG backyard which makes for a lot of variation in your working week.


In this role you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leaders in which ever department assigned in carrying out general gardening and other maintenance work as required. You will provide support and back up for other members of the Parks Operations team. Acting as an ambassador for our Council, you will go above and beyond to provide both internal and external customers with exceptional service at all times. With our labouring role no two days will be the same!


It is essential that you have your driver's licence (Classes 1 and ideally 2) and some practical experience in operating a large range of agricultural machinery. If you have your HT licence that would be ideal! A good general fitness level is also required.


Invercargill City Council supports a drug free workplace and preferred applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. Also you will be required to undergo a police background check.
