Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced professional for the role of Roads Engineer.

Reporting to the Coordinator Engineering Assets, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the functions and activities of the Pavement Assets section in line with Council's policies, procedures and related legislation
  • Assess, evaluate and model Council's pavement inventory and condition
  • Efficiently manage direct reports and contractors within the responsibility of the position
  • Prepare estimates of costs for Council's engineering pavement rehabilitation projects
  • Coordinate budgets for the successful delivery of projects to meet outcomes
  • Manage and coordinate contracts
  • Provide assistance and advice to other departments and be part of project teams as required
  • Manage interaction with residents, user groups and other stakeholders in a sensitive and professional manner

Required Qualifications/Certificates:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence
  • WorkCover WHS White Card

Required experience/skills:

  • Experience in Local Government Road Asset Engineering or similar field
  • Extensive experience in project management and contract supervision
  • Ability to prepare tender documents and specifications for engineering projects
  • Experience in preparation of estimates and managing budgets
  • Demonstrated skills in the assessment of pavement condition and operation of computerised pavement management systems
  • Knowledge of Council environmental policy and relevant legislation
  • Commitment to quality service and high level customer service skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to be a key player in Council's Capital Works Program and Pavement Rehabilitation Strategy.
