An exciting position exists within the Family and Children’s Services business unit to improve outcomes for children through the development of partnerships in the early years sector. Best Start partnerships focus on children experiencing vulnerability and all Aboriginal children to ensure all children have access to quality early childhood experiences through kindergarten, supported playgroups and maternal and child health services.
Local partnerships are the cornerstone of the Best Start program. This expertise and experience is used to develop innovative and collaborative responses to improve outcomes for local children and their families as well as leading the way in cultural change, service coordination and integration.
To be successful in this role you will require excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues and early year’s professionals as an experienced facilitator and collaborator. You will also require an understanding of the principles of community development and capacity building. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a recognised Health, Welfare or Community Development discipline with some relevant experience or through lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience in the field of specialist expertise.
You need a current Victorian driver’s licence, Working With Children and Police Check.
Key Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a recognised Health, Welfare or Community Development discipline with some relevant experience in working with families and with community and health settings
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of community development and capacity building
Demonstrated experience in planning, delivering and evaluating community development projects
Demonstrated ability to research, analyse data, and prepare reports and submissions
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and written communication skills
Ability to engage and work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including parents and local community members.
Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area.
