About the Role 

Positively responding to the new strategic focus for planning in NSW, Lithgow City Council has an exciting new role of Strategic Planner or Graduate Strategic Planner. Those in their final year of Study are encouraged to apply, but we are looking for an immediate start meaning that you will have to arrange alternative methods of completing your studies.


What you will be doing 

  • Providing strategic planning support to Council’s Economic Development and Environment Directorate through assisting with forward planning projects including:
  • the research, review and preparation of land use strategies;
  • assessment and preparation of planning proposals and local environmental plans, development control plans, codes and policies; and
  • provision of professional advice on planning matters to both internal and external stakeholders.


The role has a strong research and analytical focus and requires;

  • contemporary working knowledge and understanding of the NSW planning framework;
  • an ability to see the bigger picture;
  • an ability to engage with the community and stakeholders;
  • an ability to work as part of a small team, and
  • an ability to prioritise and manage a number of differing projects and tasks.


Fine Print

Hours of work: Permanent Full Time 35 hours per week 


Salary range:
Between $1020.40 and $1533.01 per week - dependent on skill and qualifications
