The Room Leader will join the energetic and passionate Children’s Services team, working at Early Learning Centre. This position will work closely with the Manager in providing professional, high quality education and care to children from birth to school age in a caring and culturally sensitive environment, ensuring respectful and inclusive experiences for families, children and visitors.
The Room Leader position is a permanent fulltime position.
Room Leader responsibilities
The Room Leader will effectively manage and coordinate the day to day activities and operation of the 0-3 or 3-5 year old room in the Early Learning Centre, actively leading the teams to provide high quality early childhood education and care and developing and maintaining strong relationships with children, which support and partner with families and communities. The Room Leader will work closely with the Manager, contributing to the development of programs which reflect the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and assisting with the implementation of a play based learning environment responsive to children’s interests, strengths and abilities.

This position contributes to Council’s long term strategic goal through providing professional support to children aged 0-5 years in a safe environment, encouraging them to reach their potential.
To be considered for this position, candidates must:
- Possess high level verbal and written communication skills
- Be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team environmen
- Possess the ability to form warm, responsive and positive relationships with children|
- Hold a valid Working With Children Check
- Not be a prohibited person
- Be an Australian Resident or equivalent or holder of a visa allowing permanent employment in Australia
- Hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care with minimum 2 years demonstrated experience
- OR
- Hold a relevant Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) with relevant demonstrated room leader experience over a period of at least 12 months.
Conditions
- Hours of work are 35 hours per week, as per rotating roster between the hours of 7.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.
