Non-Executive Director
The Tasmanian Water and Sewerage Corporation Pty Ltd, trading as TasWater, is seeking a new non-executive director to fill a current board vacancy.
TasWater is responsible for delivering water and sewerage services across Tasmania. With total assets valued at $2 billion, a turnover of $300 million, 800 staff and a capital program in excess of $100 million per annum, TasWater is one of Tasmania’s largest employers and corporations.
The skills-based, independent board consists of a chairperson and six non-executive directors, and operates under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), TasWater’s Constitution and Shareholders’ Letter of Expectations, along with other relevant legislation.
Reporting to the Chairperson and accountable to the Owners’ Representatives Group, directors take an active role in setting strategic direction, policies and long term plans, while also ensuring the corporation is appropriately resourced and efficiently run.
The successful applicant will possess some or all of the following:
• Professional qualifications relevant to the position
• Senior level experience with a commercial private sector organisation
• Previous board experience, or familiarity with board operations at a senior level
• Understanding of a director’s duties and the principles of corporate governance and accountability
• Demonstrable experience leading a complex utility business (an understanding of the water and sewerage industry will be highly regarded)
• Practiced in delivering a large scale capital program
• Senior background with information and communications technology (ICT).
