Building Control Officer
Invercargill City Council are looking to recruit experienced Building Control Officers. It is an exciting time for us as our region is experiencing high growth. This offers an array of opportunities for motivated and experienced building control professionals.
We are looking for building control professionals (either processing or inspecting) who have achieved Residential and/or Commercial competency while proving a high level of customer service. These exciting positions provide for regular rostered work between consent processing, inspections and responding to customer requests for service and information. It is an opportunity to become proficient in all of these areas. The role involves responsibility for advising and assisting clients on building consent matters.
ABOUT YOU:
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate experience in a wide range of building control functions; including processing building consent applications and/or undertaking inspections out in the field. You possess a good level of current technical building knowledge and current competency assessment and have a strong knowledge of the NZ Building Act 2004, Building Code, BCA Accreditation Regulations and other relevant legislation.
You are a good communicator who can build and maintain relationships. You'll use your knowledge and experience to engage with customers and provide consistent and high level technical advice. Your ability to make sound decisions and your working knowledge of the Building Act and NZ Building Code will be crucial in this role.
You'll be working towards or already have a complying qualification for building control surveying under BCA Accreditation Regulation. Applicants that do not hold an appropriate qualification may be considered for this position on the basis that you will be prepared to enrol in a programme of study for an appropriate diploma level qualification.
