PRINCIPAL PLANNER



  • Permanent Full-Time
  • Total Remuneration Package $106,020.00 - 131,031.00
  • Located at Administration Building in Raymond Terrace.


A unique career opportunity awaits for an experienced Principal Planner to join our high performing team. Our team strives to provide a high level of professional service to Council and the community with respect to the development and use of land to provide assistance to the Strategic Planning Coordinator.


You will be responsible for the effective provision of professional service which includes:

  • Customer service to stakeholders, including the elected Council, internal council officers, rate payers, residents, development industry and Government agencies.
  • Planning advice to the Council, the community, land owners, development industry and other government agencies.
  • Policy formulation and review, including preparation, review and amendment of draft plans, strategic input into draft Local Environmental Plans, Council's policies and procedures and project management.

What you need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification enabling full membership to the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
  • Extensive experience in land use planning and development, including preparation and amendment of statutory planning instruments.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage and develop people.
  • A demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • The ability to be adaptable to changing priorities to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • The ability to formulate innovative solutions to solve complex problems.


Total Remuneration Package Range:
 $106,020.00 - 131,031.00 (includes 9.5% superannuation + motor vehicle + retention allowances) + flexi-time
