The Opportunity

Reporting into the Coordinator Social Planning & Wellbeing, this position will see you facilitating the development and implementation of effective strategic planning, projects and programs to improve community health and wellbeing. Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Undertaking social research, health impact assessments, data analysis and health, social and community planning activities to inform the development of policies, plans and programs
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating strategic documents, and sustainable projects and programs including the municipal public health and wellbeing plan
  • Assisting with the identification and development of grant and funding applications
  • Advocating for improved health and wellbeing outcomes through networks, partnerships, submissions and in response to issues arising
  • Influencing and contributing to other Council strategies and projects
  • Providing advice and recommendations to reduce health inequalities in the community


About You

To be suitable for this position, you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary or post graduate qualifications in Community Planning, Community Development, Health, Social Science or a related field, along with substantial experience
  • Sound knowledge of the strategic role and direction of contemporary social planning, particularly diversity and social inclusion within Local, State and Commonwealth government
  • Experience in effectively engaging and consulting with community through policy plan and strategy development and implementation
  • Knowledge and proven ability to implement health and wellbeing policy frameworks and initiatives
  • Proven project management skills, including a familiarity with budgeting techniques
