The opportunity    

Council are seeking to recruit an Operator to work as part of the Sewer Process team to work in the overall treatment, operation and maintenance of Council's Sewer treatment systems.


To be successful in this position, you should hold either a Treatment Plant Operator Certificate or Certificate II in Water Industry Operations, with a view to obtain a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations; and recent demonstrated water industry experience.  You should also hold relevant WorkCover and technical certificates including WorkCover Construction Induction Card, Confined Spaces Entry, Chlorination Certificate and Chemical Dosing Certificate.  A current HR Drivers Licence is highly desirable.


Please note it is a requirement of this position to participate in a rotating on-call and overtime roster.

Key accountabilities

The tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing control, operation, monitoring, testing and maintenance of all facets of Council's sewerage process systems, recycled and reclaimed sewer process infrastructure
  • Monitoring and maintaining sewer treatment chemical stock levels
  • Identifying equipment faults and process issues, and implementing corrective actions to address problems which affect sewer treatment processes and impact effluent quality
  • Undertaking regular inspections of sewer treatment infrastructure
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace consistent with the requirements and obligations of the WHS Act and Regulations
  • Providing strong communication and planning skills with internal and external customers
