Claims Management Officer - Contract 6 months



THE POSITION:

We have an exciting opportunity for career driven individuals to join the Enterprise Risk Management team at Fairfield City Council on a contract basis for 6 months. In this role, you are required to proactively manage claims start to end including recording, investigating, assessing, analysing, processing and settling claims within the delegated authority levels and established standards. 


Working as a Claims Management Officer, your primary responsibilities will include administering insurance claims such as (but not limited to) Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Motor Vehicle (Heavy, Plant and Light), Industrial Special Risk (i.e. Property Damage), and etc.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

The knowledge, skills and/or experience required for this role are:

  1. A strong commercial acumen to ensure that claims are managed proactively throughout the claims process and resolved cost effectively while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  2. Ability to apply initiative and problem solving on issues encountered in day-to-day activities to determine and implement an appropriate course of action.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal skills, for communication with a diverse range of stakeholders including residents, Council staff, and etc.   
  4. Customer service experience with the ability to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction combined with the ability to respond appropriately to customer requests and meet customer service requirements.
  5. Sound time management skills and ability to prioritise a high volume workload.
  6. An understanding of Local Government environment, Council’s operations and knowledge of relevant legislation and its application to service delivery.
  7. Computer literate in MS Office applications.


DESIRABLE:

Tertiary qualification or equivalent with 1-3 year work experience in insurance-related roles inclusive of general insurance claims management is a desirable.


SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Temporary position for a period of 6 months, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 4, salary range is $64,397 p.a. with progression to $69,344 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $75,431 p.a.
  • Flexible working hours are available.
