About the role:
 

As a senior technical specialist in the Digital Transformation Group, responsible for the design, implementation, quality assurance and delivery of production-grade data pipelines, big data and IoT processes and machine learning algorithms spanning the Water Corporation enterprise.  You are a member of a product-oriented multi-disciplinary Agile team including data scientists, data engineers, analysts and product owners, and will therefore also be responsible for technical mentorship and team capability development within your subject matter expertise.

Key skills and experience:

 

  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • 5+ years of commercial software development experience is essential.

  • Advanced development skills and experience in Python is essential (2+ years).

  • Skills and experience with Python data analysis, big data and machine learning libraries is highly desirable.

  • Experience developing, implementing and trouble-shooting production-grade highly scalable distributed applications in Cloud environments.  AWS is essential, Azure is desirable.

  • AWS Certified Associate - Developer with AWS Big Data Speciality is desirable.  

  • Experience with application containers such as Docker, Kubernetes or Vagrant is essential.

  • Experience collaborating with data scientists to implement algorithms in a highly scalable distributed production environment is desirable.

  • Basic knowledge of data science methods and techniques:  time series, supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, deep learning and feature engineering is desirable.

  • Experience with Big Data frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark is desirable.

  • Advanced skills and experience of data acquisition, ETL processes and Data Warehouses is essential.

  • Knowledge and experience working in Scrum / XP software teams using modern software development and collaboration platforms such as Jira and Git Hub or Code Commit is essential.
