The Role:
Are you an innovative technical expert looking for an exciting new project? Bring your creative technical expertise to help guide the City of Canterbury Bankstown through its journey to becoming a leading Smart City. Make a difference in improving the lives of the community! Be responsible for the delivery of Council’s Smart City Program i.e. using technology, infrastructure, community engagement and connectivity to evolve our city and make real improvements Work closely with the Digital Innovation (Smart City) Program Manager to guide the City of Canterbury Bankstown through its journey to becoming a leading Smart City. This position will draw on your technical expertise to address real community issues and improve the lives of our residents.
Tasks include but not limited to:
- Project manage the technical aspects of Smart City initiatives.
- Assist other areas of Council with researching potential Smart City solutions.
- Develop scalable, sustainable solutions that enables Council to deliver services more efficiently and effectively.
- Assist in managing, analysing, and interpreting data produced through Smart City implementations.
- Develop Council’s Open Data Program.
- Develop and ensure standards are in place for interoperability, security, privacy and data management.
- Provide technical advice and expert knowledge on Smart City technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Identification and implementation of technical hardware/infrastructure (network requirements, sensors etc.)
- Build relationships with the technology sector, vendors and businesses in the delivery of Smart City initiatives.
- Assist in the promotion of the concepts of a Smart City within the Council
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge or demonstrated experience working with Smart City technologies and data, Internet of Things technologies, and user-centric design approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in digital technologies and the ICT industry.
- Experience in planning, project management, procurement, deployment, and support of technology solutions
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects within a structured reporting framework, on time, to budget
- High-level communication skills
- A tertiary qualification in Computer science, technology, engineering, or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated extensive experience in lieu of formal qualifications
