The Community and Public Arts Officer delivers the City’s arts and cultural initiatives through community development, engagement and outreach activities. The position is responsible for implementing initiatives outlined in the Creative Community Plan and Public Art Strategy as well as maintaining relationships and progressing opportunities within the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months on full-time basis of 38 hours per week.
Key accountabilities:
Develop, manage and initiate a program of innovative art projects that foster and create economic opportunities for local artists, engage the broader community in art and engage state and national artists.
Manage and promote existing programs and projects including but not limited to, Sundays by the Sea music on the Foreshore, Biennial Art Drive and Christmas decoration design and installation.
Establish and develop community art workshops at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery and other venues, including early childhood art workshops and general community art workshops.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant should hold a degree related to arts and culture and have experience in the development and delivery of community arts and cultural programs, and events.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $71,053 per annum or $35.9581 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
