Applications are now sought from eligible, qualified primary and secondary teachers available for 2019 appointments.
About the role
Flying Squad teachers fill short term vacancies in rural, regional and remote schools. Generally these appointments are for periods of between four and ten weeks in a range of schools with differing needs.
The role requires teachers to be able to quickly and readily engage students. Teachers have success where they can use a range of skills, have a strong knowledge of the curriculum and utilise effective classroom management strategies.
About the Teacher Flying Squad
The Teacher Flying Squad presents exciting opportunities for eligible teachers who are not already appointed to a school for 2019. Appointments from this pool are generally made at short notice to fill unplanned vacancies across the state.
Applications can be submitted throughout the term of the pool. If you are placed in the pool, you will be contacted to establish your availability for individual appointments. Placement to the pool is not a guarantee of an offer of employment. Please read the attached information sheet to determine if you are eligible for this pool.

Teacher Flying Squad members receive free accommodation throughout an appointment and free travel to and from the location of any appointment. Teacher Flying Squad members are paid the rates set out in Schedule A – Salaries of The School Education Act Employees’ (Teachers and Administrators) General Agreement 2017and receive a locality and/or school specific allowance applicable to the teaching staff at the school of appointment.
