The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, housing, youth justice, community initiatives and regional services reform.

The Opportunity

As a Residential Care Worker you will responsible for working as a member of a team to achieve best outcomes for children and young people and providing group and individual therapeutic residential care to children and young people. You will assist in planning, developing and implementing activities for children and young people.

This is an open pool recruitment process for full-time, part-time, casual, fixed term or permanent opportunities. If you are suitable for this position you will be placed in a Pool from which appointments may be made for similar vacancies across the Department of Communities.

As this is an open pool you can apply at any time and interviews will be conducted on a regular basis.

Please note that casual employees work on an irregular basis with no set hours and no expectation of ongoing work. A casual loading of 20% is applied to the standard hourly rate in lieu of leave entitlements.

Conditions

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia
  • Please refer to the Essential Eligibility Requirements / Special Appointment Requirements section of the JDF

A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement. 

This position incorporates flexible working arrangements and is subject to a rotating roster, including weekends and evenings. Penalty rates may apply.
