Primary Objective

Provide specialist scientific and technical knowledge for supply of safe water to PWC’s customers. Co-ordinate and lead the assessment of water and wastewater system performance and implementation of monitoring programs for system regulatory compliance across remote Northern Territory indigenous communities.  Develop and implement strategies to improve the management of water and wastewater systems.


Key Responsibilities

1.     Manage regulatory compliance for drinking water quality, wastewater discharge licences and effluent reuse against National guidelines to meet statutory, corporate and other reporting requirements.

2.     Review, analyse and report on the performance of water and wastewater treatment processes and distribution systems to achieve required levels of services.

3.     Lead collaborative investigations to identify and implement solutions for the short and long term management of water quality issues in consultation with Corporation personnel, regulators and relevant stakeholders.

4.     Lead and deliver projects in relation to water quality, including management of supervise water quality officer/s and contractors.

5.     Carry out duties in accordance with Power and Water's safety and environmental policy, safety principles, corporate values
and behaviours.


Selection Criteria


1.     Scientific or Engineering degree recognised for Professional Membership with Engineer Australia.

2.     Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater quality monitoring, practices, and procedures.

3.     Technical knowledge of water supply and sewage treatment systems and effluent reuse.

4.     Highly developed analytical, organisational and communication skills to enable effective team work, engagement with stakeholders, and in the preparation of complex and formal written reports and outputs.

5.     Demonstrated experience with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, including the Framework for Management of Drinking Water Quality; HACCP as applied to water safety plans; and National Guidelines for Use of Reclaimed Water.


Selection Criteria


1.     Demonstrated initiative in identifying opportunities to improve treatment systems, manage water quality monitoring systems and operate under a quality management system.

2.     Understanding of the challenges of delivering essential services in remote locations and in a cross cultural context.
