Financial Systems Support Officer



The Finance Department delivers a range of services to the organisation including Budget administration and management, Business Systems Support, Financial Accounting, Procurement administration and management and Rating and Recovery.


The Financial Systems Unit is small team responsible for the management and support of a number of Council’s Financial Business Systems including the investigation and implementation of new and enhanced systems and procedures to support the organisation’s evolving Business Management and reporting needs.


The Financial Systems Support Officer will assist in the administration of Council’s Financial Management Information System and Performance Reporting System which includes the provision of support services to users; day-to-day systems administration; report writing; facilitation of training programs; and integration, development and enhancement of various corporate systems. In addition to these responsibilities there will be a number of opportunities to be involved in project based work which includes system upgrades and development and enhancement of Councils Financial Management Systems.


We are looking for an individual that has a keen interest in technology, has the ability to adapt quickly to change and has sound analytical and problem solving skills.


Essential Criteria:

  • Completion or near completion of a tertiary qualification in Accountancy, Information Systems or related field
  • Experience in system administration, maintenance and support of Financial Management Software
  • The ability to work within a team
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Products


Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous Local Government experience
  • Demonstrated ability in Report Writing
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
  • Experience in TechnologyOne Software Products


Commencing Salary: $66,000 to $75,700 per annum plus 9.5% Superannuation


The position is located in the Penrith Civic Centre, adjacent to a major shopping centre and close to the railway station. You will enjoy flexible working conditions, an active staff social club and have access to educational assistance and salary sacrificing options.
