The opportunity

 

We’re recruiting to our team tasked with protecting our precious kauri from kauri dieback disease. The Natural Environment Targeted Rate is investing heavily in our kauri programme over the next ten years and we need skilled, enthusiastic practitioners to deliver on our promises to reduce the risk of kauri dieback spread and make sure we preserve this taonga for future generations.


We’re looking for a Kauri Dieback Advisor to support the delivery of kauri protection infrastructure projects across our parks, which includes upgrading tracks, hygiene and vehicle washdown stations. Working with other departments, mana whenua and partner organisations, you’ll focus on providing technical kauri dieback mitigation advice to departments working on parks and prioritising infrastructure upgrade requirements 

 

About you

 

You’ll have a keen interest in kauri dieback, coupled with relevant experience in biodiversity conservation or biosecurity. You’ll also have previous experience developing operational plans and contracts for infrastructure or biodiversity projects. A natural collaborator, we’ll value your excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships and rapport with a wide variety of customers and stakeholders. You’ll also have a high level of knowledge of kauri dieback mitigation methodologies or of relevant infrastructure solutions.
