Leading Hand Playground Inspector

Mackay Regional Council has an opportunity for an experienced Leading Hand – Playground Inspector to join or Parks, Environment & Sustainably team. 

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and carrying out general maintenance work on playgrounds with the proactive inspection as per Australian Standards (AS 4685 1-6). Condition reporting and data capture of Council's playground assets contributing to proactively ensuring the publics’ safety when visiting our many and varied Parks, Reserves and Facilities.

Additional responsibilities in this role include: 

  • Be self-motivated and able to lead a small work crew.
  • Coordinate Contractors and MRC Staff who may be required to assist with installation, repairs and/or maintenance of play equipment.
  • Provide timely maintenance and appropriate use of small plant including power tools and equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Building construction/maintenance trade level qualifications OR very high level of handyman attributes
  • Park Playground Inspection Level 3 Qualifications OR a willingness to obtain 
  • Current General Construction Safety ‘White’ Card
  • Current QLD Medium Rigid Truck ‘MR’ Class Licence OR willingness to obtain 
  • Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card OR willingness to obtain.

  • Base salary range from $51,139 + applicable allowances
