Supported Playgroup Facilitator

  • Permanent Part Time Position  - 30 hours per week
  • Salary between $59,719 to $63,652 pro rata, per annum plus 9.5% superannuation

City of Ballarat are seeking to employ suitably qualified Early Years Professionals within the Supported Playgroup Program. The program is delivered within identified venues and/or within family homes.

Supported Playgroups funded by DET aim to achieve the following outcomes

  • Children have improved learning, development and wellbeing outcomes through improved parent-child interaction in the early home learning environment.
  • Parents develop their parenting skills and confidence to support their children’s learning and development
  • Families are supported to transition into other community playgroups or to more intensive early childhood or specialist services.

Supported playgroup facilitators under the supervision and with the Playgroup Coordinator are responsible for the delivery of small talk in Supported Playgroups and, more intensively, through In-Home Support for eligible families.

Key Selection Criteria 

  • Relevant qualifications as identified in the current Supported Playgroup Policy and Funding Guidelines.
  • Demonstrated substantial experience in working with families and children.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework including the implementation of Practice Principles and Learning Outcomes. Demonstrated experience in planning, designing and delivering programs that engage families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Recent experience in development and facilitation of programs and group work for pre-school aged children.
  • Experience in engaging and working with families from diverse backgrounds (as identified in key responsibilities).
  • All candidates should display integrity, responsibility, respect for others and the ability to be innovative.
