The Senior Statistician facilitates the longitudinal tracking and reporting of South Australia’s children and young people in terms of their Health; Safety; Wellbeing; Education; and Preparedness for Adulthood outcomes. The Senior Statistician coordinates and undertakes complex data analysis and analytics to support clear, data-informed, quantitatively informed decisions, and identifies strategic implications arising from the data analysis. The Senior Statistician has intuitive and conceptual skills to work with Council members and others who do not have a statistical background to shape questions that could be answered quantitatively and develops algorithms to demonstrate specific outcomes. The Senior Statistician works with unstructured, unwieldy and inconsistent data with large tracts of missing values, from multiple agency sources and data platforms, and securely forms it into something analysable to identify policy, funding and strategic implications arising from the data analysis. The Senior Statistician develops and maintains collaborative working relationships and networks with resource individuals or organisations that hold information or data, and provides specialist advice to improve the quality of data, analysis, modelling and reporting by State authorities.
