Our focus is on ensuring fit for purpose community assets that deliver outstanding community experiences and outcomes for Aucklanders.


This is an opportunity for you to join our department leadership team as the Head of Facilities Contract and Supplier Management. Community Facilities is responsible for $11 billion worth of assets within the Auckland area. With contract values worth more than $120 million, this 9 month fixed term role is crucial to our success in leading contract management best practice within both internal and external stakeholder relationships.


The purpose of this role is to drive the expansion and implementation of a strategy for commercially driven contract management and procurement of all new and existing Community Facilities contracts, including project delivery, operations and maintenance contracts. 

About you

We are seeking someone with strong contract and commercial management experience within a large and diverse portfolio. A significant element of your success will be your proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Of equal importance will be your demonstrated experience in providing a firm approach to contract negotiation with a strong focus on maximising return on investment. You will be a strategic leader and an expert contract negotiator with a focus on maximising returns on investment. As this role will manage complex interactions with various stakeholders (including engagement with Local Boards, Council Controlled Organisations, e.g. Auckland Transport and Regional Facilities Auckland, Iwi and the public) you must have a proven background in delivering results and innovation in a high public profile environment. Along with 10+ years’ experience, you will have a tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent understanding gained through significant operational and leadership experience in a large complex organisation.

You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence due to the nature of the position where you will be required to regularly travel to various Community Facility sites across the Auckland region.
