The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Child Safety Program team in the implementation of CFA's child safe approach, including work to meet Child Safe Standards and other child safety legislation.. This role will have a focus on risk management and partner with CFA's Enterprise Risk Team to strengthen a risk based approach to child safety within CFA. 

The Child Safety team is tasked with assisting the many functions and locations within CFA involved with children to better understand the risks of harm to children and ways in which these risks can be reduced or removed within the organisation.

The role is required to build strong partnerships and relationships across both the People and Culture function, other directorates of CFA, sector partners and external stakeholders. Working as part of a small, dynamic and highly flexible team, the role will report to the Child Safety Program Manager and work closely with other relevant program owners, including Enterprise Risk, Integrity and Investigations and other specialists within the People and Culture Teams.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Business, Commerce, Finance, Law or other related field and/or proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
  • Appropriate professional qualifications or membership of industry professional associations are desirable.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing risks or the demonstrated capacity to develop such skills.
  • Practical understanding, skills and knowledge about risks to children within organisations and Victoria's Child Safe Standards Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering complex projects.
  • Well-developed influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills and demonstrated expertise in building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Proven ability to provide consultancy and advice to managers and employees and to use analytical and conceptual skills to solve problems and implement workable solutions which respond to a range of child safe organisational issues. 
  • Sound written communication skills with the ability to meet a range of target audience needs.
