Primary Objective: Provide policy advice and information to senior management, other government agencies, developers and the public regarding Crown land transactions and leases of Crown land and to manage the delivery of land transaction projects to support the sustainable development of the Northern Territory.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Provide advice and information to management, other government agencies, developers and the public on matters relevant to the sale or lease of Crown land.

2.     Deliver complex Crown Land Transaction projects in accordance with the Crown Lands Act, Land Acquisitions Act and Special Purpose Leases Act.

3.     Monitor and provide timely and accurate advice on compliance with Crown leases and development agreements.

4.     Develop and implement new and revised policies, practices and procedures to enhance the efficient management and administration of Crown land transactions and leases.

5.     Develop and maintain databases relating to land transactions and development projects.

6.     Prepare high level correspondence, and Ministerial and Legislative Assembly briefs.


Selection Criteria:


1.   Demonstrated ability to provide advice and information to management, other government agencies and the public regarding the sale or lease of Crown Land.

2.   Ability to interpret policy and legislation and provide advice and recommendations based upon this interpretation.

3.   High level project management and commercial skills to deliver complex land transaction projects.

4.   Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in negotiating in the private and public sectors on sensitive, confidential and complex issues.

5.   High standards of probity, accountability and confidentiality in a politically and commercially sensitive environment.

6.   Good knowledge of information technology and its effectiveness in enhancing service delivery, as well as knowledge of associated office and land administration software.

7.   An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.



1.     Relevant tertiary qualifications in town planning, business management, law or other relevant discipline.
